InnerSelf's Daily Inspiration

February 13, 2025

This is Marie T. Russell, publisher of InnerSelf.com wishing you a day of pausing to "reset your mind" (today and every day). Text messages, notifications, and social media updates are "invasive". When you refer to a plant as invasive, it means it grows unchecked and takes over not allowing other plants to flourish. The same goes with our attention to our phone and its numerous pings for our attention. Don't let your phone and its numerous apps and notifications run your life and become invasive. Make yourself, and your peace of mind, your first priority... not your phone and its clamoring for your attention.

The focus for today is:

I pause to help reset my mind
and reduce the urge to dive into distraction.

Today's message is inspired by an article written by Beth McDaniel:

Instead of reaching for your phone the moment your workday ends, take five minutes to transition.

Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, or go for a short walk.

This pause helps reset your mind and reduces the urge to dive into distraction.

Daily Inspiration Recap:

In a world of constant pings and notifications, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. The habit of reaching for our phones immediately creates stress, anxiety, and distraction. Instead, take a pause—breathe, walk, or close your eyes—to reset your mind, regain clarity, and reduce digital dependency. Prioritizing mental clarity over distraction leads to better focus and a calmer mind.
