Overview: November 17 - 23, 2025
BREAKTHROUGHS & BREAKDOWNS: This week's powerful and profound New Moon seems destined to bring about dramatic revelations and course-changing events. The lunation occurs at 10:46 p.m. PST this Wednesday, November 19, when the Sun and Moon align at 28°11' Scorpio.
The potency of this New Moon lies not only in its location in passionate Scorpio, but also in its strong aspects to ALL the outer planets—Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The tight opposition with radical, rebellious Uranus is likely the most impactful of the aspects; however, the New Moon also forms a sensitizing water grand trine with Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces, activates the long-term, consciousness-raising Uranus-Neptune sextile (exact on Thursday), is closely sextile Pluto, and is exactly conjunct retrograde Mercury.
That's a lot to assimilate, so let's take each of these important factors one at a time.
URANUS EFFECT: Unpredictable Uranus is always the wild card in any astrological hand we are dealt. The sideways-spinning planet acts in surprising or sudden ways, which is why we associate it with lightning strikes, earthquakes, and other shocking natural events. With Uranus in opposition to this week's New Moon, we anticipate disruptive events not only on Wednesday but in the days that follow, due to the Sun being precisely opposite Uranus on Friday.
Behaviorally, Uranus is erratic and restless. Those who are most directly affected by the New Moon—due to having natal planets or points in the final degrees of fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius)—could behave irrationally and impulsively around the time of the lunation, not giving thought to the long-term ramifications of their actions.
In addition, Uranus emits a highly electrical energy, which can impact the nervous systems of sentient beings. This week, it would be wise to take precautions to soothe and support the body's communication system. Options include taking extra time for meditation or yoga, consciously breathing, walking in nature, getting good sleep, drinking plenty of pure fluids, and increasing our intake of calcium/magnesium, B vitamins, and adaptogenic herbs and mushrooms.
WATER GRAND TRINE: A grand trine is formed at the time of this week's lunation, with the perceptive Scorpio Moon trine both Jupiter in empathetic Cancer and Saturn in compassionate Pisces. This configuration in water signs can help us access our intuition as well as our imagination and our dreams.
As our minds are inundated with excessive and contradictory information this week, our intuitive knowing will help us sort through options and uncover the truth of a situation. However, we could also be overly sensitive and deeply emotional with this water grand trine, requiring extra time spent in grounding our energies.
URANUS-NEPTUNE SEXTILE: Uranus and Neptune are both transpersonal planets, embodying the higher octaves of Mercury and Venus, respectively. Thus, Uranus represents Higher Mind, and Neptune carries the vibration of Divine Love. As these two planets work together, we may experience an expansion of consciousness and a recentering in the high heart.
A sextile does not compel, but merely offers opportunity. The collaboration between Uranus and Neptune supports a greater sensitivity to and awareness of subtle energies, thus providing the setting for breakthroughs in consciousness and new spiritual experiences. This is a longer-term aspect, exact this Thursday but in effect from August 2025 through July 2026.
PLUTO EFFECT: Despite being designated as a dwarf planet, Pluto's influence is always notable, even in its subtler aspects. At the time of the New Moon, Pluto in Aquarius is sextile the luminaries, inviting us to reclaim our power, both individually and collectively.
Pluto is also the Psychotherapist planet, able to reach into the depths of our consciousness and bring forward that which has been hidden from view. By its nature, a Scorpio New Moon is already primed to go deep into emotional territory and to reveal the secrets that lie beneath the surface; with Pluto's assist, these potentials are increased this week.
RETROGRADE MERCURY EFFECT: Mercury is tightly conjunct this week's New Moon, being only 16 arc minutes (00°16') away from the luminaries. The Messenger Planet's tasks include the sharing of information, so we expect lively communications and an ever-changing news cycle this week. Much of what we learn is likely to be shocking or disruptive, given that Mercury in truth-seeking Scorpio is exactly opposite Uranus on the same day as the lunation.
With Mercury being retrograde, this New Moon asks us to revisit "facts" that we thought we already knew and had processed. Mercury in perceptive Scorpio is determined and even preoccupied with getting to the truth of a situation, even if the journey takes us through emotional swamplands. Still, we need not fear getting stuck in the mire; remember that in mythology, Mercury was the only immortal—other than Hades himself—who could freely enter and leave the underworld.
DAILY ASPECTS THIS WEEK (November 17 - 23, 2025):
Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important aspects, day by day:
Monday
Sun trine Saturn: Although emotions are heightened now, this aspect can help us maintain some objectivity and a wise perspective.
Mercury sextile Pluto, Mercury opposite Sedna: Revelations may occur, especially involving issues of abuse, deception, and abandonment.
Mars sesquiquadrate Eris: Some may be very opinionated or self-righteous. Confrontations are possible, with each side blaming the other.
Tuesday
Mars sesquiquadrate Jupiter: Conflicts of beliefs escalate, which each side insisting that they are "right" and the other is "wrong."
Venus sesquiquadrate Neptune: It may be unclear who to trust and who is telling truth.
Mercury enters Scorpio: As the Messenger Planet returns to Scorpio by retrograde, we dive more deeply into an area of concern that we may not have explored as thoroughly as needed previously. The mind is focused, driven by a desire for the truth. Communications take on a new level of intensity and words are used to powerful effect, perhaps to control or intimidate.
Wednesday
Venus trine North Node: We are able to collaborate for a common cause and to align with our higher values.
Mercury opposite Uranus, Mercury trine Neptune: Surprising information comes to light. Sudden insights are possible and intuition is increased. Nervous energy is heightened.
New Moon: The new lunar cycle begins at 10:46 p.m. PST tonight, when the Sun and Moon align at 28°11' Scorpio.
Thursday
Sun conjunct Mercury: As the Sun aligns with retrograde Mercury in Scorpio, we are focused on issues of the past, as well as new revelations that may alter our plans going forward.
Uranus sextile Neptune: This long-term aspect provides opportunities for spiritual awakening and the expansion of consciousness.
Friday
Sun opposite Uranus, Sun trine Neptune: Unexpected twists and turns are possible, but we can also access the faith that outcomes will eventually be for the highest good.
Sun enters Sagittarius: As Sol transits the sign of the Archer, from November 21 to December 21, we are inspired by a desire for new experiences, as well as for a deeper understanding of the meaning of life. Sagittarius is generally hopeful and able to focus on the larger picture; however, it may be restless and not take the time to attend to important details.
Saturday
Mercury trine Saturn, Mercury trine Jupiter, Mercury quincunx Eris: As Mercury forms a water grand trine with Saturn and Jupiter, our thoughts tend to be strongly influenced by our emotions. It will be essential to maintain objectivity and to take our time in making decisions, especially with Mercury in hard aspect to impulsive Eris.
Sunday
Sun opposite Sedna, Sun sextile Pluto: A deep transformation is underway. Our perspectives on the past are shifting and our core beliefs are being questioned.
